Biography

Ismaele Benati, photographer. Ismaele Benati was born in Udine (Friuli Venezia Giulia) in 1974.
His passion for nature brought him close to photography, which helped him to express his emotions and narrate his journeys. His artistic research focuses on the two axes, 'vertically' bringing him on top of his beloved mountains, and 'horizontally' towards the discovery of new lands. His fascinating artistic journey began with his first trip to Alaska in 1999, which was followed by several more adventures in the wide sweeps of North America, in the wild forests of Canada, in Scandinavia, in Iceland, in the Australian outback, in the African savannahs and deserts. Being a lover and connoisseur of the mountains of his region, during some of his several outdoor hikes he realised an exciting photographic report, some shots of which were published in the annual review of the Friulan Alpine Society ('IN ALTO 2006'). In the same year, a selection of his landscape shots was published in the 2007 notebook of Moroso (a leading design furniture company).
In 2009 he displayed his photos in two exhibitions: the first one organised at Villa Moretti, in Tarcento, by the local newspaper 'Messaggero Veneto' and the second one at the Osoppo's fortress by the magazine 'SentieriNatura'. Some of his shots were chosen by the tour operator AbacoViaggi for the 2010 and 2011 edition of its annual calendar. In 2010 he also took part to the "Light Reflection" exhibition organised by Graphic Players and carried out a photo-reportage on industrial archeology that was displayed at the "Ex-Factory" exposition, which was held in Udine.
The famous quotation «beauty will save the world» by Fedor Dostoevskij seems to have inspired the title of the collective exhibition "Il bello fa bene" ("Beautiful is good") promoted by Centro Antartide and the national newspaper 'La Repubblica' that took place in December 2010 in Bologna.
Aside from his passion for photography, Ismaele works as an industrial designer in the city of Udine, where he decided to settle.
